Frequently Asked Questions
What is a roof restoration?
Over time, like most things, your roof will degrade and no longer function nor look like new. A roof restoration refers to the process by which a roof is brought back to it’s former glory.
During a roof restoration, any faults with the roof are identified and rectified. A thorough roof clean is carried out, repointing & rebedding done, and then coating in the desired paint & sealant. Finally a thorough site clean up is carried which completes the process.
How long does a roof restoration take?
A typical roof restoration can be carried out within 2-3 days, assuming no setbacks are encountered. Most of the time, our inspection process is thorough enough to uncover any issues which can cause a delay to the work.
Other factors that can impact the duration of the job include actual roof size, accessibility, height, and site access. Weather can also impact on the duration of the job as well as any specific material availability.
How do I know if I need a roof restoration?
There are several reasons why you might choose to get a roof restoration. The major two reasons are if your roof is no longer functioning properly, e.g. is leaking, and/or for aesthetic reasons, e.g. your roof looks old and tired.
Another reason someone may have a roof restoration done is if they wish to change the colour of the roof and choose from a wide range of modern colours. This is a good opportunity to have your roof looked over, maintained and serviced.
What if I just want my roof repaired and not an entire paint job?

What indications do I look for to determine if my roof needs work?
To the untrained eye, there are a few signs you can look out for that would indicate your roof is not functioning properly.
- Water leaking – if you have any leaks, e.g. puddles, this is a sure indicator your roof has problems.
- Discolouring – you may not have puddles but sometimes water can sit on the topside of your ceiling which will cause discolouring indicating a roof leak. Discolouring down walls is also an indication of a roof leak.
- Mould – excessive amounts of mould growth could indicate that there’s an issue with your roof.
- Cracked and broken tiles should be addressed as soon as possible.
Aesthetically you may find your roof is dirty or has a lot of lichen and/or mould growth which would be a good prompt to have a professional look at your roof.
Finally, if it’s been a long time since anyone has looked at your roof, it would be a good idea to get a health check done even if nothing is apparently wrong.
